I can't believe Steve Irwin is dead. Yes, he courted death almost every day of his 44 years, but somehow he seemed untouchable, larger than life, and madder than a cut snake, which may explain his passion for reptiles. My kids love his wildlife park. They've nursed his boa. It took both of them and a helper to hold her. It's hard to not to admire what Steve's done for ecology. I wish we had more folk like him. Goodbye to one of Australia's precious and unique sons. He will be sadly missed.

Such a tragic loss. I feel for his family close and extended who'll be in deep mourning.
He'll be sorely missed by our family as well. He had a huge appetite for life.
He was much loved and admired in the UK too. Respect.

I'm still sad about this. I'm hoping they will show a whole slew of his progs on telly over here soon.
It'll be so sad to watch him, but I've always been glued to the screen when he's been on.
I've never seen anyone with such a pure joy and enthusiasm for life or their work. He was a rare person.
So sad.
When I heard of his death, I felt the same intense pain I experienced while watching Princess Diana's funeral. I'm so sad for his tiny children and his wife. When I watch his show, it's almost as if he's still alive because he was such a force of nature.
