Thank you for making me a part of this...

Ever feel like the meat in the sandwich? I moderate for a great writer's board and mostly things go pretty smoothly. Except when they don't. Why is it some people take your moderator job as a personal insult, like you are out to get them? Yeah, I volunteered my time to do this for you so you could play, safe, fun, and free because I'm a nasty person. Um, hello?

To be fair, they didn't blame me, they blamed the girl who volunteers her time to help me, who never grumbles, is always there, never asks for praise or even thank you girl. And that makes me boil. As far as I can see, the kid deserves a medal, a bouquet of flowers, or at least a little gratitude.

Sigh. People. When will they learn that we're not out to get them, we're trying to help them. Anything else is something they're projecting from within themselves.

Sauce, anyone?

What a cute little puppy!
I'm sorry that someone gave you a hard time. I feel that all the moderators do a great job. I don't think I do all that much. I'm just along for the ride, but I appreciate the ticket.

Ah, thanks Lucinda. It's all calmed down, thank heavens. Sometimes feelings get hurt in this biz when there's no intention behind it. Fortunately by approaching both parties I managed to chill the situation, though it did leave me carrying more of the workload, but...whatever.

((hugs)) Babe. We know the mods volunteer their time and have busy lives like everyone else. Having been privy to what went down, it honestly wasn't meant as a personal attack. It started as a simple inquiry by Kristen about a jump between words that made no sense. When we explained how the thread was constantly pruned, she said it didn't need to be until it was three pages long. No sooner had she posted that than the other mod, seeming to completely disregard K, pruned again! That was what upset people, and it was all I could do NOT to comment as well. So sorry if you were caught in the middle of it!

S'okay, Heather. I think it was part unfortunate timing, part personality clash and hurt feelings on both sides. But hey, everyone seems happy again, so that's the main thing. For me it is VERY important that everyone feels free and relaxed in Prompts. The whole purpose of the section is for people to play with words and hopefully get freed up so they write better. That can't happen if we let tensions creep in there. I am trimming The Game on my own from now on so if anyone has any troubles they can come chew on me. Of course, no guarantees that I won't bite back. :-)

Hehe...we KNOW you bite back. It's one of your more um...endearing...qualities. :D

Very funny pic!

One of the reasons I stopped being a moderator in one of the Yahoogroups years ago was that. People always thought I was after them to nag and complain. Hey, if they didn't follow the rules, I had to go medieval on their butt, you know.

Hey, someone's got to be the bad guy. Fortunately, I don't mind being that someone.
